Historic Bronzeville - February 25, June 24, October 28

Explore Historic Bronzeville to learn more about the history and stories of notable past residents who helped make the community what it is today. Enjoy a guided tour of the DuSable Museum of African American History, continuing to the heart of the community at 47th Street and King Drive, with time allotted to browse on your own. Later, visit the Little Black Pearl Art and Design Center for a tour and discussion.

Hyde Park and Kenwood - April 1, July 8, October 21

View the distinct architectural styles of these neighboring communities while traveling through the area, including historic and notable mansions and homes. Stop to visit St. Thomas the Apostle Church, when available, and enjoy a guided tour of The Oriental Institute Museum on the University of Chicago campus. Later, stroll through lovely Osaka Garden on Wooded Island in Jackson Park, home of the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition.


Pullman Historic District - June 10, August 26, September 23


Beginning in 1857 with the formation of the Pullman Palace Car Company, known for manufacturing luxurious railroad sleeping cars, George M. Pullman began planning his famous Pullman community on the South Side of the city. Explore this urban historic district on a comprehensive walking tour. Later, visit the renowned Hotel Florence for an update on the progress of its ongoing restoration.

South Shore Neighborhoods - February 4, November 18
Take a trip through the neighborhoods of the South Shore, alive with cultural, historical and architectural treasures. Begin with a guided tour of the sprawling historic landmark, the South Shore Cultural Center. Later, visit St. Philip Neri Church for a discussion, when available, followed by a tour of eta Creative Arts Foundation, a leading, local African-American theater company.

Uptown - March 25, August 5, October 14


Today one of the most dense and ethnically diverse neighborhoods in Chicago, Uptown originally featured German and Swedish-owned farmsteads. Uncover the glamorous Jazz Age history of the Uptown neighborhood on this tour of the Broadway and Lawrence Avenue area. Visit the romantic Aragon Ballroom, stop at one of the oldest jazz clubs in the U.S., and conclude with a short discussion and musical performance at The People's Music School.
