Barcelona-based architecture studio Ferrolan LAB designed a small narrow and long residential structure used by a family as their permanent residence. Measuring 12 feet by 82 feet the contemporary home located in Barcelona Spain challenged the architects to construct a comfortable vertically designed collection of spaces.
Everything is well balanced even with the oversized furniture (see that huge office table) and the bold art work in the dining room. Speaking of the open dining space the 10-person dining set grabs the eye as it’s stunningly illuminated by a series of cube pendants. Even more fascinating are the rays of the rising and setting sun flow in similar pattern into the dining room.
The curve seems to have taken its might back again with the in — it appears to be marvelous in the backdrop of spectacular greenery and curved walls painted in creamy- whitish color. A wooden deck is stretched from the street through the entrance and extends up to the garden at the back. The living room has a double height roof and is located in the intermediate spaces. The huge glass walls that surround the living room allow for an unobstructed view to beautiful surroundings.
The lot is located at a dead-end region of street and at its back rest a public park. The kitchen has been maintained as a public place while the dining room is also spacious enough to contain a large Israeli family. There are separate bedrooms for kids and parents which are now common in contemporary residences.
The concrete finish over the kitchen and the structure of the main facade adds to the good looks with the structure exposed. In the master bedroom a large mobile surface-vertical façade opens to the rest of the house. The The Casa de la villa del Rey seems generous with openings and luminous transparency making it look even more imaginative.
